When you step into this restaurant, you can’t take your eyes off because of its breathtaking Japanese garden. This is the restaurant where you can enjoy fantastic garden while eating vegan dishes.  Japanese traditional meals served at Ryokan is called “Kaiseki” and you can have vegetarian kaiseki here. It is a traditional Japanese multi-course haute cuisine and you can enjoy various foods at one time. The presentation of the food itself is also like a gorgeous art piece. I can guarantee you that it would be memorable stay in your trip.

Mamezen; Ramen restaurant

Refer to this site: http://www.mamezen.com/english-menu/

If you haven’t tried Ramen because of noodles containing eggs and fish-based broth, you must try this ramen shop. They offer vegan ramen, which is the combination of  unique soymilk-based soup and chewy noodle made without eggs. Soup is creamy and rich, and you will drink it up even last drop (Still it’s healthy!). This restaurant is also cozy and creates a relaxed atmosphere, so this is a good place to take a break after walking around.

If you want to try casual Japanese style dishes, this is the right place to go. They have a fantastic range of vegetarian meals to choose from and almost everything is like mother’s taste. My recommendation is Nanban plate; “Deep-fried Okarakonnyaku mixture of bean curd lees and konjak jelly in good combination with tartar sauce made from bean curd and soya mayonnaise. Created chicken like texture and juicy taste without any meat.”

This restaurant’s policies must be impressive to you. They avoid using meat, white sugar, milk, eggs and also chemical seasoning. They use vegetables either agrichemical free or reduced. I know you can’t wait to try this restaurant out! The ambience of this café is very peaceful and you will like it too.

Ajiro

Refer to this site : http://www.ajiro-s.co.jp/

Ajiro is one of the historical restaurants in Kyoto and they got a one star Michelin star. In general, healthy food such as Shojin ryori, which is Buddhist cuisine tastes weak or even nothing and you are not satisfied with it. However, even though this restaurant provides cuisines with strictly no meat and no seafood, all the people who come here smile and feel happy after eating meals. The plates they offer make you completely full without guilty. It’s hard to believe yet true. You will enjoy the sophisticated taste of the vegetables. The inside of the restaurant is simple but you feel solemnity.

Vege Cafe & Dining Tosca

Refer to this site : http://tosca-kyoto.com/index.html

If you want to try dishes and cakes, then go there. Tosca is run by two Japanese sisters, who speak English, and you will get warm welcome from them. They offer entre, salad, main, rice, pasta and dessert, which are definitely good for vegetarians. My recommendation is Tofu steak; Japanese style steak, which is made from tofu, and vegetables with onion sauce. Be careful not to eat too much dishes because you should try cakes made without eggs, butter, milk and white sugar too.
