Lake Jyuniko is said to emerge due to the big earthquake in the Edo period. Jyuniko means ” twelve lakes “, but there are 33 lakes in this forest, not 12. When we see from the side of Mt. Ookuzure , the number of the lakes seems to be 12, but it’s not elucidate in detail why these lakes are called ” Lake Jyuniko “. Akashoubin

You can see some kinds of wild birds in Lake Jyuuniko such as ” Akashoubin “, ” Kibitaki “, ” Akagera “. Akashoubin is the representative wild bird seen in Lake Jyuuniko. It is known for the beautiful bird songs and is popular in wild birds.

The charm of Aoike, what I think, is the high clarity of the lake and the deep blue color.  It’ｓ like the water poured the blue ink. Even now, it has not elucidated yet why the color of water is so blue. Since some kinds of fish are swimming there, it doesn’t seem to be harmful.
