No Border For Otaku
A comprehensive pop culture event “LONDON COMIC CON” was held in London from 27th to 29th May. Movie, game, manga and anime funs in the UK came together to the event and you can see many people cosplay. When all advance tickets were sold so there was no walk-in ticket on the 28, I interviewed cosplayers gathered in the venue. The venue was ExCeL in a redevelopment area alongside Tames River. The inside of a train directed to the venue was like fancy-dress party. As I arrived at the place, many people enjoyed wearing characters’ costumes from movies, games and Japanese animes regardless of age and sex.
Miku Hatsune really suits this boy
A man said he was a fun of Saitama Sensei
She asked me when I spoke to her. “Who am I?” Of course I know, Ms. Hotaru.
It was said that participants could get training suits of “Free!” easily in such event and on the Internet.
It took some months to make the Cat Bus and they could barely finish making it before the event (People can get in the bus and driver can move it by pushing from the back).
I could feel participants’ affections toward works because many of them replicate their characters’ costumes in high standards by being particular in detail. I hope that otaku culture continue to be the bridge for international exchange in the future.
